“… The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces…” Isaiah 25:8b
The Lord wipes away the tears from our faces, He doesn’t leave you to cry on your own, He’s there holding you. Jesus understands our fears and hurts, He was betrayed by one of His disciples whom He trusted and loved. He knew that He was going to be betrayed but it still hurt His heart. When He prayed in the garden called the Mount of Olives in Gethsemane it is said that ‘And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.’ (Luke 22:44). If the Lord Jesus sweat so badly that it was like blood falling how much more do you think He cried. The Lord’s love for us is so great that even though He prayed ‘Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.’ (Luke 22:42) He still got up and went willingly when the guards came to take Him.
He wipes our tears away and holds us because He loves us, understands us, and cares for us beyond our imagining. With the Lord Jesus’ death it was made possible for our tears to be wiped away. Isaiah 25:8 (NIV) says “He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.”
With Jesus’ sacrifice death was no more, our tears shed slowed, and our disgrace on earth taken. Jesus took it all because He loves us.
