“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouth, but only such as is good for building up, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29
No corrupting talk. How often do we find ourselves slipping into that way of speaking? When mad, angry, or even hurt. It’s easy to talk badly of others. But the Lord says, ‘let no corrupting talk come out of your mouth.’
But how? The Lord wants only good and encouraging words to flow though us. What we speak and say daily comes from the out flowing of our hearts. So, what is in our hearts comes out of our mouths. What’s in our hearts comes to what we believe and value the most. So, how do we keep corrupt talk from coming out of our mouth, by filling our thoughts and hearts with the Lord.
If anger, unforgiveness, and bitterness are in your heart, the way you see the world and the people around you is corrupt. But if you have the Lord as the center of your heart and thoughts you start to see through His eyes. I know how easy it is to let anger and hurt cloud your thoughts. But when we don’t let God fill our thoughts instead, we are being disobedient to Him. With God filling our thoughts His love pours though us from our hearts and off our tongues.
Let no corrupting thoughts cause corrupting talk to come out your mouth but let God’s love flow though you and out your mouth.
