“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true. He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.” 2 Samuel 22:31
The first part of this verse is easy to understand. His way is perfect just like He is perfect and all that the Lord says and has written is always true. He never lies not even a little white lie like the world says is ok. He is always true, He is always perfect. So that takes us to the second part of the verse.
“He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.” How does He shield us? and from what does He shield us? Because He protects and shields us how can He let so much bad happen to us?
The Lord shields us in a lot of ways. They are not always the way we want but are always what we need. One way the Lord is our refuge is by giving us commandments to follow. When we follow His commandments we find ourselves whole and well in mind and body. He gives us this commands to follow to protect us from physical, emotional, and Spiritual harm.
Other ways He protects us is by teaching us to forgive and letting go. He tells us to love others as we love ourselves for a reason. He tells us to take every thought captive because when our minds are in chaos so is whats around us. He tells us to think of pure and perfect things to keep our minds on Him. His word is healing to our Spirit and bones. He shields us from our inner self as well as the world around us.
Sometimes He shields us in physical ways as well. I have a memory where I was in the bathroom brushing my hair as a child and the almost wall length mirror fell. I was standing in the bathroom one minute and the next I somehow was in the hallway. The Lord protected me that day. He protects and shields us in all different ways. I know that there are ways that He shields us that I haven’t mentioned today.
But I do know that He shields all that take refuge in Him. Meaning that all that seek Him. That come to Him and call on Him. He will keep all that take refuge in Him in the shadow of His wings. Always protected and always secure.
As for the why He lets bad things happen. Well most of the time we are the cause of our own bad situations as are others responsible for theirs. As for the weather and certain illness, we will just have to ask Him when we meet Him one day. 🙂
