“Transforming the effects of the fall and growing in the image of God is not an easy task. But God has promised us that the “good work” He began in us, He will carry “on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 1:6) Henry Cloud, Changes That Heal (pg. 147)
Forward momentum. Sometimes it’s in leaps and in others it’s in baby steps. Personally, my forward momentum has always seemed to be in baby steps. Sometimes I know I’m the only one to really see my progress at first. I know God sees it but others not right away.
I used too, and still sometimes do, get upset if I feel like I’m making progress and others say I need to do more.
But I finally am starting to learn to take a step back and realize they mean well. I don’t need to get discouraged and wonder if I’m doing enough. I need to hear what they have to say then remind myself of the progress that I have made. It’s definitely a learning process.
But God sees all of our progress and is there for it all. What we start in the name of Jesus, He will finish for us. He will complete. Every forward momentum we make needs to be led by God. When we let Him lead, His peace will fill our hearts. All our forward steps will be guided, and, in the end, He will be given the glory, and we will find our happiness in Him. “The goal is simply trust.” (pg. 148)
