I’m sorry that I haven’t posted anything this past week. I had a very stressful weekend and it caused me to get what I call stress sick. I had trouble just getting out of bed. My whole body was in a panic for like, the whole week. But I am finely starting to feel better again. Thankfully! So here is the next devotional of this series from the Mended Heart!
When sin hurts our hearts, God shows us mercy. “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.” (Eph. 2:4-5)
Mercy is not just forgiveness it also makes us more aware, it opens us up to the truth. It helps us see what we truly want, what we are missing inside and are trying to fill by giving into temptation. It even warns us before it happens, if we are listening.
We See Temptation For What It Is
Mercy opens our eyes to the truth and sheds light on the lies we so easily believe. Sin tells us we are worthless; God’s truth says was worth more than diamonds. The devil wants us to hurt and be stuck in our sin. God wants is to be happy and at peace, mended and made whole again.
“Satan doesn’t get to win. He does not get to lead us down a path far from God’s best us, or those we love.” (Pg. 110)
“Ask God to begin to illuminate the source of your emotional gaps, and then open those raw and wounded areas to His touch, no longer making excuses or hiding away because of shame” (Pg. 111)
Pray and open your heart to God, you can trust Him with it all. You can trust Him with everything inside your heart and mind. It feels scary at first and sometimes it is hard to let go of all your feelings and emotions and give it all to Him. But in the end, it is worth it, feeling His mercy, His grace, and His love. Knowing all is well. It’s the best feeling in the world.
